Cape Air was short lived. It was a short stint before I was offered the right seat of a CRJ for United Express. My prayers for jet speed were answered.
Tonight is a beautiful night of flying and the trusty CRJ700 slips into cruise between the cloud layers of jetroute 37. We're leveling off at 18,000 feet on the trip from Albany to JFK when the flight attendant comes up to the flight deck.
"Honey, I sent you an email earlier" she says. "There's this really cool show at the Bushnell coming up and I really want to go." The cat looks up at her from the tabletop with the same level of slight annoyance that I'm sure my own face is reflecting.
"Ok, I haven't checked my email today yet" I reply. "Can't really look right now though but I will later on ok?"

My attention again fixates again on the instruments of United flight 35... as is should be. We are 25 DME from Kingston, and NY aproach will be looking for our descent soon.
Plus, it's against company policy, and FAA rules to use laptops on the flight deck when the aircraft is in operation. Even to check emails from skybabes regarding shows at the Bushnell.
Life flying the line begins.
